The Söderskolan in the south-west of Sweden is a rural primary/middle school. It has approximately 200 students and the kitchen prepares about 350 meals daily on site. The kitchen is operational 200 days per year, and the school also serves as an after-school centre/daycare facility.
A new era of pot and pan washing at Söderskolan (school customer) in Falkenberg, Sweden, as they tried out the new X5 Granule and reported 48% water savings.

The challenge was to exceed their expectations in terms of serviceability, ease of use, and operational consumption. The kitchen had a pot washer from a competitor brand, which they were happy with; however, we spotted a few issues with the installation of adjoining tables, resulting in having to lift the loaded wash basket into the machine.
The study revealed a 48% reduction in water consumption, which adds up to an annual saving of 25 200 liters of water. The site also enjoy improved working conditions with an easier-to-load basket, auto granule collection, and an auto-clean function.
Projection to save even more, as they are no longer using the rack conveyor dishwasher during school holidays and on days with fewer guests.
Staff also praised not having to lift the wash basket into the machine. Now it just slides in and out effortlessly. They also enjoy the new user interface as well as the foot pedal starter.
Water and energy metres show significant savings, which is duly noted by the technical staff with the municipality and validates their choice to purchase the machine.
When the test concluded, the kitchen staff did not want to switch back to their previous model. It will be reassigned to another site as it was practically brand new. The municipality has already placed another order for an X5 Granule.
Furthermore, the kitchen is no longer operating the tunnel dishwasher on days with few students present, thus saving even more energy and water. The X5 Granule with its combi-washing functionality can easily do all their washing up on a slow day.
